From Victorian mansions to swish penthouses, the most expensive homes sold in Ireland this year

Posted on

While people continue to scrimp and save everywhere they can to buy homes they can call their own, some people aren’t having any such issues — and then some.

Over 1,400(!) homes were sold in Ireland for a massive seven figures over the past 12 months, including over 20 homes selling for a colossal €4 million and over.

However, while houses priced at four million are not unusual these days, they wouldn’t even make the top ten most expensive houses in Ireland this year.

10: 21 GREENFIELD PARK, DONNYBROOK, DUBLIN 4 (€4.75MILLION)

Selling for €4.75 million back in June, this incredible five-bed, designed by Georgina Hutton, spent a year on the market, with a much larger asking price of €5.25 million.

Not out of place in somewhere like The Hamptons, this five-bed is as spacious as it is luxurious, going for a massive €10,622 per square metre.

9: 20 TEMPLE GARDENS, RATHMINES, DUBLIN 6 (€5MILLION)

Extending to 337 square metres, this stunning Edwardian home is truly something to behold, as spacious outside with its massive front and back gardens, as it is inside.

A home as handsome as this, of course, commanded an equally attractive price tag — going under the hammer for a massive €5 million.

8: 37 AILESBURY ROAD, BALLSBRIDGE, DUBLIN 4 (€5.2MILLION)

Going for €100k under the asking price, this spectacular redbrick was in the family for 40 years before being sold.

While the home did go for a massive €5.2 million, it could be considered one of the cheaper homes on Ailesbury Road, which is known as one of the most sought-after addresses in Dublin.

7: KILMACUD ROAD UPPER, DUNDRUM, DUBLIN 14 (€5.312MILLION)

How do you manage to go over €1.3million over the asking price? Easy. Put a home as incredible as this on the market.

Featuring a swimming pool, yoga room and home cinema, this house is notions to the max — set across three storeys, you’d almost think that €5.312million is a bargain.

6: GORTANORE, BRIGHTON ROAD, FOXROCK, DUBLIN 18 (€5.525MILLION)

While the home isn’t as impressive as others on the list (though it is beautiful), the up to 1 acre of land sweetened the deal, helping this home command its massive price tag.

It’s understood that The Apprentice Ireland star Jamie Moran is the lucky homeowner, with his company submitting a planning application to build 30 apartments on the site. We’ll let you decide if that’s a good or bad thing.

5: AMANDA ST GEORGE’S AVENUE, KILLINEY, DUBLIN (€5.75MILLION)

When we first wrote about this home back in 2023, it had an asking price of over €9million. So whoever picked this up managed to get it for a (comparative) steal, as when it went back on the market last year it was €6.95million.

The seven-bed is truly incredible to behold, and wouldn’t look out of place in the Hollywood Hills, having been designed by Ross Cahill O’Brien of Cafe en Seine designs.

4: ST CATHERINE’S, 87 AILESBURY ROAD, BALLSBRIDGE, DUBLIN 4 (€7.1MILLION)

Back to the most desirable street in the country we go, with this phenomenal home, which was once owned by the late Greencore Chief Executive Chris Comerford.

The redbrick is in a prime location, on the sunny side of the street, which we can only assume was the reason it cost a little bit extra.

3: 27 THE NICHOLSON, LANDSDOWNE ROAD, DUBLIN 4 (€7.2MILLION)

Boasting seasonal neighbours such as Roy Keane and Rod Stewart, it’s no surprise that 27 The Nicholson was the most expensive apartment on the market in the country.

Including a roof pod, 350 square metres of terraces and a massive 744 square metres, the apartment broke the record for most expensive from 24 The Burbidge, which went for just €1 shy of €7million.

2: TEMPLEVILLE, 44 TEMPLE ROAD, DUBLIN 6 (€7.325MILLION)

Set in the leafy suburbs of D6, whoever has lived in the home since 2004 may be heartbroken to have parted with this gorgeous house for a €2.6 million loss after purchasing it initially for €10 million.

Nonetheless, it’s still one of the most impressive homes in general, with 0.7acres of land, meaning you have plenty of room right on the doorstep of Dublin City.

1: SEAGRANGE, SANDYCOVE AVENUE EAST, SANDYCOVE, CO DUBLIN (€9.75MILLION)

Far and away the most expensive home on the market, the initial asking price of €10 million was reduced to €9.75million — but it’s truly incredible.

With gardens extending down to the sea, the property was extensively refurbished after being bought during the boom, and clearly justifies its €10million asking price and €9.75million final price.
