Katy Cavanagh, known for her role as Julie Carp in Coronation Street, recently made an appearance at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards in Los Angeles alongside her son, Jacobi Jupe, who stars in the film Hamnet. The event took place on Sunday evening and was held at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.
Cavanagh, 52, who has been a beloved figure on the ITV soap, chose a glamorous black sequinned gown for the occasion. The outfit featured a chic boat neckline and was complemented by emerald earrings and a striking red lip, making her stand out in the crowd. Meanwhile, her son Jacobi, 12, looked dapper in a gold sequinned blazer paired with smart black trousers and a top.
Julie has taken on a new role as a showbiz ‘momager’, supporting both her sons, Jacobi and Noah, 20. In the film Hamnet, Jacobi plays the title role, Shakespeare’s son who died at age 11, while Noah portrays an actor performing Hamlet in the play that is believed to have been inspired by this tragedy.

The 32nd Annual Actor Awards, previously known as the SAG Awards, saw a red carpet filled with Hollywood stars. The event celebrated the best on-screen performances in TV and film of 2025, serving as the last major awards show before the Oscars on March 15. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners was the big winner of the night, but British rising star Owen Cooper, 16, also made history by becoming the youngest individual winner in the ceremony’s history.
Owen broke the record previously held by Kate Winslet, who was 20 when she won her first gong for Sense and Sensibility. This win marks the completion of Owen’s sweep of major awards this season for his debut role as Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old murder suspect.
Last September, aged 15, he became the youngest male actor ever to win a Primetime Emmy, earning the gong for a supporting role in a limited series or anthology. Then in January, while studying for his GCSEs, he became the youngest ever recipient of the Golden Globe best supporting actor on television.

This honor made him the second-youngest Golden Globe winner in history, after The Champ star Ricky Schroder, who was nine when he won new star of the year in 1980. The Actor Awards, which were previously known as the SAG Awards until they were rechristened this year, honored the Adolescence actor in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series category.
Owen beat out a strong field of British talent for the win, triumphing over his Adolescence co-star Stephen Graham as well as Charlie Hunnam (Monster: The Ed Gein Story), Matthew Rhys (The Beast in Me), and US star Jason Bateman (Black Rabbit). Owen wasn’t there to collect his final gong of the season. Presenters Damson Idris and Yerin Ha announced the win, with Idris joking, “Owen couldn’t be here so I’ll be taking this home, thank you.”
Owen’s win was Adolescence’s only prize on the night, despite nominations for Erin Doherty and Christine Tremarco. They were both beaten to the Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A TV Movie Or Limited Series award by Michelle Williams for Dying For Sex. Over in the film categories though, Irish star Jessie Buckley once again triumphed, completing her own clean sweep of awards season with the Best Actress prize for her lead role in Hamnet.
Jessie beat Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Song Sung Blue, Chase Infiniti, and Emma Stone to the gong, all but guaranteeing an Academy Award win in two weeks time. During her speech Jessie paid tribute to her British co-star Emily Watson, who was seen cheering her on from the audience.
“To share those scenes with you in Hamnet, I will cherish that for the rest of my life,” She told Emily. “Your wild imagination, your brave untethered womanhood, your ferocious gentleness is a guiding light to me.” She added: “To get to work with my heart in my hand and stand beside my brilliant daring friends who show me their heart, I mean what a way to spend a life, thank you.”
Jessie’s Hamnet co-star Paul Mescal missed out on a win in the Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor in a Supporting Role group, with Sean Penn for One Battle After Another taking the prize.
